Lucas Cranach the elder. Portrait of John Frederick-I Elector of Saxony, ca. 1530 (private collection).


Oil on wood: 62.8 x 39.7 cm. Originally from the Gutmann estate in the Netherlands and confiscated by the Nazi regime during WW-II. Rediscovered in the USA and returned to its rightful owners (Gutmann/ Goodman heirs). Auctioned at Christie’s New York, April 2018. Price tag: US$ 7.737.500 (ca. € 6.570.000).
